The
Snake River Hospitals and Institutions Subcommittee,
as a standing 12th Step Service Committee, encourages and
coordinates the work of individual A.A. members and groups who assume
responsibility for carrying the message of recovery to alcoholics
into Correctional and Treatment Facilities and sets up a means of
“Bridging The Gap” from incarceration or treatment to
A.A. on the outside.
In
addition, the committee supports the work of individual
A.A. members and groups endeavoring to insure that the Elderly alcoholic
and those with Special Needs have access to the A.A. message.
The
Committee examines and reviews all aspects of service to A.A. groups and meetings in
Correctional and Treatment Facilities and other institutional environments
and makes changes and/or improvements by following the General Service
Conference of Alcoholics Anonymous guidelines and recommendations.
We
are also concerned with clarifying what A.A. can and cannot do, within the
Twelve Traditions of A.A., to help confined alcoholics, both inside institutions
and upon release, as well as for Elderly A.A. members and A.A. members with Special
Needs or accessibility issues.

Responsibility Declaration
I am responsible…When anyone, anywhere,
reaches out for help, I want the hand of A.A.
always to be there.
And for that: I am responsible.

Declaration of Unity
This we owe to A.A.'s future:
To place our common welfare first;
To keep our fellowship united.
For on A.A. unity depend our lives,
And the lives of those to come.
